Süper Lig
Founded in 1959, the Turkish Süper Lig brings together the country's best teams, including historic clubs like Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş, which dominate Turkish football with their fierce rivalries and loyal supporters. Clubs
The most globally renowned clubs are Galatasaray who are by far and away, the most successful club in the league's history with multiple championships and notable international success.
There is also Fenerbahçe who are another major force and Beşiktaş; known for their passionate supporters.
When Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe face each other, the whole of Turkey tends to stop to watch it and all the drama plays out. Like most global leagues, the Süper Lig season runs from August to May.
Aside from the championship, the bottom three teams at the end of the season are relegated to the TFF First League, while the top three teams from the first league are promoted to the Süper Lig.
