Non-League Football - Stockport Town FC
Stockport Town FC are a non-league club who presently compete in the North West Counties League Premier Division. They were formed in 2014 and are owned by Robert Smethurst who also owns phoenix club Macclesfield F.C. Macclesfield-born Smethurst appointed former Wales international Robbie Savage to the board of the club. Savage also played for Stockport Town as a 45-year-old before that in 2019.

Stockport Town play their home games at the 2,384-capacity Stockport Sports Village in Woodley on an artificial turf pitch. The ground was formerly home to the now defunct Stockport Sports F.C (previously Woodley Athletic and Woodley Sports).

Take a 330 bus from Stockport Interchange bus terminal to Woodley Precinct from where it is a 10 minute walk to the ground. The nearest railway station is Woodley about 20 minutes on foot. Woodley Station is on a branch of the Hope Valley Line from Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield with about one train an hour to Piccadilly.
