Fifa's World Rankings for September 2023 were published on September 21, 2023 at FIFA HQ in Zurich, Switzerland.

There was little change in the top 10 teams since July with only Portugal and Italy changing places.

World Cup winners Argentina remain at the top of the rankings. France are second followed by Brazil.

England are fourth, followed by Belgium, Croatia, The Netherlands, Portugal, Euro 2020 winners Italy, and then Spain.

Morocco who reached the semifinals in Qatar are the top African team in 13th place. Wales are 33rd. The USA are in 11th place (no change).

Australia are in 27th place again no change since July; Japan are in 19th position up one after crushing Germany 4-1 in a friendly. Near neighbors, South Korea are up to 26th in the listing. Scotland are in 31st place.

The Republic of Ireland are in 55th place down two, while Northern Ireland plummet 10 spots to 74th. The lowest-ranked team is San Marino in 207th place.
