Germany
For being one of the perpetrators of the World War II (1939-1945), the national team was not admitted to the 1950 FIFA #WorldCup and did not play any international match after the war until November 1950.
Japan
For being one of the perpetrators of the World War II (1939-1945), the national team was not admitted to the 1950 FIFA World Cup and did not play any international match after the war until 1951.
South Africa
Due to the apartheid policy, they were suspended from the #OlympicGames from 1964 to 1988, the national football team did not play international matches from 1956-1991 and was allowed to participate in major tournaments starting the qualifications for 1994 FIFA World Cup and 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.
England
Clubs have been suspended from European competitions in 1985-1990 due to the Heysel Stadium disaster caused by English fans in the 1985 European Cup Final.
Yugoslavia
Due to the ethnic conflicts and independence wars that led to the collapse of the country, the national team qualified for the 1992 European Championship was not admitted to the final tournament, and then was banned from the 1994 World Cup and Euro 1996. Also the clubs were not allowed to participate in European competitions for 1992/93, 1993/94 and 1994/95.
Russia
Due to the invasion of Ukraine, all national and clubs are suspended from FIFA and UEFA competitions in 2022 until further notice.
